Winter Arrivals

July 2023

Back to All News

Our latest new releases and arrivals for Winter 2023 are here and will be available for your upcoming projects over the next couple of months. Keep an eye out for them on our stock lists and in Garden Centres and Hardware stores near you. Here is a list of what to look out for and exciting ways you can incorporate them in the landscape and garden.

Callistemon All Aglow

A stunning bottlebrush that is particularly striking when new flushes of growth occur, these leaves are bright orange with pink undertones when they first emerge, fading to deep green. During spring masses of red bottle brush flowers appear which are a magnet for bees and birds, these are a real show stopper and add volumes of colour to a garden for a brief period. It is a compact plant in nature, holding many branches which give it a full, dense habit. This plant responds really well to pruning and although it can grow to 2-2.5m tall it can be kept much, much smaller if required. Plant in full sun in sandy and clay-based soils, keep watered over summer until established. We rate this plant for its great performance in the home garden and landscape setting. Echeveria Madison

A new line to us, this Echeveria has striking long flat leaves that sit close to the ground in a rosette pattern. Leaves are pale green at the centre fading through silver and into hues of pink towards the tips, they are framed by a deep pink line along the edges. We believe this plant would make a great addition to planted table bowls and to waterwise gardens. These plants will be good as a contrast plant to help add depth and for use to create clean lines through plantings. Will grow to about 20cm across and 10cm high, plant in part sun for full sun and in free draining soil. Echeveria 'Madison'

Grevillea Strawberry Smoothie

A low growing Grevillea that is new to our range, it produces masses of stunning strawberry coloured flowers during late autumn and through winter. These are a magnet for small birds and bees making it a great addition to wildlife gardens and for verges and median reserves. Foliage is green in appearance with a silvery tint, flowers appear on the ends of branches in clusters. A good plant for free draining soils and sunny to part shaded positions. It has also been known to perform well as a pot plant and can be lightly pruned after flowering to help maintain its shape and form. This Grevillea will grow to 50cm high and will spread to cover an area about 1.2-1.5m wide. Grevillea 'Strawberry Smoothie'

Osteospermum Lavender Fizz

A new and improved Osteospermum from experienced breeders Ball Australia. This form has the most stunning lavender coloured blooms that are held from spring through to autumn with multiple flushes throughout the seasons. The habit of these plants has also been improved through breeding, these are compact, dense vigorous plants that will maintain a much neater, tighter shape in a landscape and garden setting. They have also been proved to perform very well in pots and are largely disease and heat tolerant. Will grow best in improved soil that is free draining, grows to 30cm high by 40-50cm wide. Pelargonium Peach Shadows

A very striking Geranium, it has very dark green, almost black centres to leaves with deep green around the outside edges. The name comes from how the leaves appear behind the flowers. Pale pink flowers are held against the dark leaves making them appear bright and vibrant against the shadows of the plant. A great plant for pots and border planting, tough, hardy and sun tolerant. Plant in free draining improved soil and keep well-watered to encourage repeat flowering. Will grow to 50cm high by 50cm wide. Pelargonium 'Peach Shadows'

Myoporum Mallee Carpet

Myoporum are known for their robust nature and spreading habit and this is no exception, Mallee Carpet will carpet large areas of open ground. A tough plant that likes full sun to part shade, it needs free draining soil and plenty of water to get going. Once established this plant is drought tolerant and has a great ability to suppress weeds naturally whilst also stabilising soil. Will grow to just 5-10cm high by up to 1.5m wide. Prunus lusitanica

Portuguese Laurel, a tough, hardy, shrubby plant that makes a stunning hedge. It has glossy green leaves that are lightly serrated at the tips, they are held close together which makes this a great screening and privacy plant. During winter and early spring sprigs of white, lightly perfumed flowers emerge followed by black berries (not edible). Landscapers and designers have used these all over the world in hot, Mediterranean climates as both hedging and topiarized as standard trees (small). These do best in sand improved with clay but also in the hills and down south. Tolerant to heat and frost and very hardy once established Prunus lusitanica

Sedum Conga line

A new addition to the hardy Stonecrop Sedum range, this one is sun and frost hardy (it will die back to a rhizome in frost and re-emerge the following spring). Foliage is a striking deep purple in appearance and during summer clusters of pale pink/white flowers are held atop the spires of foliage. Will tolerate most soils but prefers free draining soil and will do well in a pot. Grows to 30cm high and wide and likes a sunny to part shaded position in the garden. Applying snail pellets or coffee grinds when wet weather is around will reduce snail damage to the leaves Sedum 'Conga Line'

Sempervivum Onyx

A super-sized sempervivum that is extremely sun hardy. It has a neat, low spreading habit featuring a large rosette of deep purple/red foliage. Once mature these plants make an interesting addition to a garden or pot and will draw the eye of any keen gardener. Plant into free draining soil, avoiding clay or areas prone to flooding. Full sun to part shade will see you get the best from this plant. Sempervivum 'Onyx'

Westringia Mighty Bloom

A stunning upright shrub that is incredibly tough once established. Mighty Bloom's main point of difference to other Westringia is its incredibly large flowers which bloom from late autumn right through to late spring. Blooms are pale pink In colour and contrast nicely against the dark green foliage. A good plant for coastal areas but will do well inland and is frost tolerant. Plant in a sunny spot and water well until established. You can prune plants in late spring to help maintain shape or for growing as a hedge. Westringia 'Mighty Bloom'
